Kátharsis
I have always found it hard to articulate my spiritual journey, fortunately I have found a poem that about sums it up. It was written by Trust Shoko, a close friend, and the first time I read it I couldn’t believe how much it resonated with me. It’s so accurate I don’t feel like I can add or subtract anything, nor can I elaborate any further, at least at the moment. This poem is part of a collection which you can find here along with the rest of his work and you can find his linktree here.
Kátharsis
It all started with opening my eye during prayer
that I saw damnation flash past my sight.
It didn't look like the devil and horns,
but like the comfort of opening both of them.
So I did.
It was like the feeling that God and I are alike,
and we can see eye to eye
Literally.
It'll all end
with me forcing my eyes shut again,
to unsee the forbidden
and be a creation to my Creator
to let go, into the discomfort of the brawl
between the flesh and the spirit
for God and I to see eye to eye,
literally.
